Check valves usually cannot withstand high pressure, but the water return on the outlet side after the pump is shut down will generate a lot of pressure, and in order to prevent the foot valve from being damaged, some foot valves are equipped with pressure relief pipes.

Generally speaking, there is no need to install a lifting foot valve, because the inlet of the general self-priming pump has its own check valve, which is what we often call a one-way valve, so that after the pump is stopped, the liquid in the pump body cannot flow back into the original pool, and it is stored in the pump body, so there is no need to fill the liquid when it is used for the second time. If the foot valve is installed, the effect will be better, because if sometimes the check valve is damaged, there is a foot valve as a guarantee, there will be no idling, and the installation of the foot valve will also effectively ensure the effective suction stroke of the pump. Another special case, but if the suction height difference is too large, or the diameter of the suction tube is too large, and the volume exceeds the liquid storage capacity in the pump chamber of the self-priming pump, it will not work normally. At this time, it is necessary to install a foot valve to ensure that self-priming is safe and fast
